Ronaldo Posterboarded Me (feat. Marvell Wynne)

Former USMNT and MLS defender Marvell Wynne joined The Other Football Podcast this week.

In the latest episode of The Other Football Podcast, Carson A. Merk, Magnum Chapman, and Thomas Viola were joined by former USMNT and MLS Cup-winning defender Marvell Wynne. He discussed his childhood as a “baseball brat” moving from city to city with his MLB star father, something he will never forgive his mother for, and which city had the best toys.

Wynne also recalled some great memories from the 2009 FIFA Confederation Cup where the USMNT finished runner-up and from his battle with Cristiano Ronaldo when Real Madrid met Toronto FC and he got the best (and worst) of the soccer legend.

On a more serious note, Marvell talked about his retirement from professional soccer that featured Major League Soccer refusing to pay his contract, heart surgery, and more.

Also, our trio talked about the potential return of soccer across Europe, their allegiance in New Jersey/New York rock music, and more!

Make sure to check out previous interviews with San Antonio FC‘s Chuy Enriquez, Murray State legend Miyah Watford, and Las Vegas Lights FC‘s Jordan Murrell.

The Other Football Podcast is a light-hearted, weekly show that discusses soccer from Sin City, often venturing to other topics like movies, music, and food. Laughs are guaranteed in each episode.

Reporting live from Sin City, I have covered both RGVFC and Las Vegas Lights FC since their inceptions. I also write profiles to highlight players from the NCAA to USL to NWSL and everywhere in between.
