In their inaugural season finale, Lights FC will face Sacramento Republic FC on the road.

*Cues up “End of the Road” by Boyz II Men* Well, we have finally arrived at the last match of the first season for Las Vegas Lights FC. It has been a year of, well, Vegas-type things! But, we will cover the season as a whole in a future article. Today, we take a look at match #34: Las Vegas Lights FC at Sacramento Republic FC.

Last Time Out

Lights FC

W (5-2) vs. Rising FC

Goals: Garcia, Garduno, Mendiola, Alvarez, Ochoa

Republic FC

W (2-1) vs. Los Dos

Last Time They Met

Way back in April, these two sides played to a 1-1 draw at Cashman Field. Joel Huiqui scored in the 2nd minute for Lights FC before Christian Eissele equalized in the second half.

Opposing Players to Watch: Sacramento Republic FC (clinched the 3-seed)

Cameron Iwasa: Everywhere he’s played in USL, Iwasa has been a quality scoring option. Playing in his hometown, he’s scored 16 goals on the season and added six assists, both club highs.

Villyan Bijev: He’s the creator for Republic FC. The former Portland Timbers 2 standout has five assists on the year and a team-high 54 chances created.

Josh Cohen: When all else fails for the Sacramento defense, they have a star in goal behind them. Cohen is second in the USL in saves with 116 and sixth in clean sheets with 11. He’s a big-time player and serves as an eraser for any mistake his backline makes.
