Last Word SC Radio: Trillium Cup History With Kris Landis And Stadium Expansion

Greetings plebs of the internet! This week on Last Word SC Radio, we go full retro with some MLS history.

In the first segment, we’re joined by Kris Landis of Massive Report. Kris stops in to talk about the history of the Trillium Cup. The guys talk about its tin cup origins and a bet between the mayors of the cities. Kris talks about the evolution of the rivalry and it’s kind of crazy origins with the fans. We talk about the significance of 2011 and how the rivalry and competition is coming to a head this season. Lastly, Kris gives a prediction on who’ll win the cup in 2017.

Then Joe Hojnacki joins to the pod to talk about the expansion plays for Providence Park. The guys talk about what this means for the Timbers and how it could be a model for other MLS clubs in the future. Then the guys open the can of worms that is the MLS Player’s Union releaseing salaries for the leagues. They take a few stabs at high value and dead weight contracts. We finish up predicting the full slate of MLS games.

Share this pod with your Crew and TFC fan friends to get them pumped for next month’s Trillium Cup matches!
