A Light Preview: Match #25 vs. Tulsa Roughnecks FC

Lights FC are back in action midweek as they face Tulsa Roughnecks FC.

After a 1-0 home win over Portland Timbers 2, Las Vegas Lights FC are back on the road as they take on Tulsa Roughnecks FC.

Looking at the Lights (8-10-6)

I’ll be blunt, losing to Tulsa tonight would be the worst loss of the season for Eric Wynalda’s side. The Roughnecks are winless in their last 16 outings and have allowed the fifth-most goals in the USL Championship. The clubs played to a scoreless draw at Cashman Field back in May.

At this point in the season, it’s all about wins, not style points. The win over Timbers 2 was not a complete masterpiece, but it gave Lights FC three crucial points. Playing on the road tonight, they will need to be compact defensively and take advantage of their chances on the break.

Fito Zelaya will be playing in his third match with the club and could have a vital role up top. The attacking group of Fito, Irvin Parra, Jose Villarreal, and Preston Tabort Etaka looked dangerous at times against T2.

Previous meeting vs. Tulsa: D, 0-0

Who you should know: Tulsa Roughnecks FC (4-13-7)

Rodrigo da Costa: In an otherwise disappointing season for Tulsa, da Costa has been a star. He leads the club with eight goals, seven assists, 41 shots, and 45 chances created.

Luca Lobo: Tulsa’s 20-year-old defender has seven goals and one assist on the season.

Jeff Addai: The midfielder has 41 tackles, 743 passes, and six key passes for Roughnecks FC.
