A very special night for the Fair Weather Podcast!! The newly formed super podcast group “Western Conference Women” have taken over the Fair Weather Podcast for this episode. The trio features Marisa from The Fair Weather Podcast, Danielle from S.A. Soccer, and Alicia from Seek and Strike Collective. The three take us on an amazing journey from a perspective that is frequently missing from sports.
They introduce themselves and talk about how the Western Conference Women came to be. They give a brief history and some plans for the future.
Next the Western Conference Women dig in to Supporters culture. They first talk about the Copa Tejas and Danielle’s role origin story. It includes a discussion of the USL season and what supporters do to keep interest over the course of the season. Alicia talks about her experience in the first season in New Mexico and how special it was.
After that, a very special guest stops by right after they get done talking about her and her importance in soccer history. No spoilers here, but let’s just say, she was so great! The conversation moves on to representation on and off the pitch. There are some signs that minds are being changed.
Lastly, they wrap up by talking about what they’ve been reading and watching since the lockdown. Also, like every other Fair Weather Podcast does, there was a discussion about food. Breakfast burritos may or may not have been mentioned.
We’d like to thank the Western Conference Women for taking over the Fair Weather Podcast. We’d love to thank that special guest for coming on too.
