USL Austin announce a Bold name, a head coach, and a trio of veterans

In an announcement on Friday, USL Austin came out with a Bold new identity.

USL Austin finally has a name and to be honest, it is a Bold one. The club set to begin USL play in 2019 announced they will be Austin Bold FC. At the Circuits of America, the Austin club was born and introduced their head coach, three new players, and a bold potential signing. Rumored to be in the mix to sign track and field legend and aspiring soccer player Usain Bolt, Bold FC claim they will be adding him, barring something falling through.

The first players officially on their roster will be veterans Edson Braafheid, Kleber, and Marcelo Saragosa. All three players are in their mid-thirties and bring valuable experience to the new club.

Braafheid, who played in the 2010 World Cup Final with the Netherlands, has made stops in the Bundesliga, Serie A, and the top Dutch League. The 35-year-old plays left back.

On the opposite end of the pitch, Kleber will look to provide scoring for Bold FC. The Brazilian has spent most of his professional career with different clubs in his native country, outside of his time with Dynamo Kyiv. In 2017, Kleber was suspended for striking and spitting at an opponent.

After adding a defensive player and an attacking option, Saragosa arrives in the Austin midfield. He has played almost his entire career in the United States. The 36-year-old Brazilian arrived in North America with LA Galaxy, before also playing for FC Dallas, Chivas USA, D.C. United, and Tampa Bay Rowdies.

Finally, Austin’s first head coach will be Marcelo Serrano. The Brazilian manager is also currently the head coach and GM of the US Virgin Island’s national team. The club begins USL play in 2019.
