Super Swirl Summary: SAFC 3, LV 1

Lights FC defeated 3-1 in Texas tonight.

Trying to play spoiler vs. San Antonio FC, Las Vegas Lights FC allowed three unanswered goals in a 3-1 loss at Toyota Field. It was the same scoreline as their previous matchup.

Las Vegas got off to an early start as Rafael Garcia found Sammy Ochoa for a 12th-minute goal. It was the striker’s 7th of the season and puts him second best on the team.

After some dangerous chances that weren’t converted, San Antonio finally leveled things up after the half-hour mark as Ever Guzman scored in the 34th minute. He would bury the go-ahead goal to begin the second half.

Lance Laing provided the final goal and secured San Antonio a massive win as they continue to push for a USL Playoffs berth. The loanee also hit the post once and set up Omar Gordon, who hit the post as well.

Statistically, the match was closely contested. Possession was 52%-48% in favor of San Antonio and shots were 12-11 in favor of Las Vegas, with shots on goal even at four. In his second straight start, Thomas Olsen only came up with one save for Lights FC. It will be interesting to see if they stick with Olsen next match or return to the eccentric Ricardo Ferrino.

The Lights will return home to Downtown Las Vegas midweek to face Phoenix Rising FC in their home finale. It will be Fan Appreciation Night at Cashman Field.
