S3 E035 – We Want Nava – Talking New Mexico United

Talking about New Mexico United’s recent 2-game win streak, Chris and Thomas look deeper into what brought the team success, the emergence of Cristian Nava,  and what lies ahead with derby rival, El Paso Locomotive FC making their first drive to New Mexico since 2019.

During the first segment, Chris and Thomas evaluate New Mexico United’s last 5 matches delving into what was consistent throughout them all despite the result, but sharply contrasting what brought success to Technical Director and Head Coach Troy Lesesne. They’ll talk more in depth about Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and Charleston Battery. Some of the topics covered during the segment were formation changes, defensive struggles, set-piece execution, chance creation, and open play soccer. Cristian Nava saw the pitch for the first time against Switchbacks FC and was in the 18 against Battery.

In the second segment, Chris and Thomas talk about the sensation that is Nava-mania and the Rise of Academia, but really New Mexico United’s Academy players have made it into the match day 18 and fans are going crazy about it. Amando Moreno is still out playing with El Salvador and everyone’s got something to say about it.

Finally, Chris and Thomas get down to the bottomline and talk about New Mexico United’s upcoming matches against San Antonio FC and El Paso Locomotive FC. Both clubs have obvious threats and the guys spend some time unpacking players to watch, attacking and defensive strategy, and ultimately what United needs to do to pull away with points from the match. Will Nava appear in the upcoming lineups? or Will more Academy players break into the 18?

The music you heard during the first break was “Cantona” by Cousin Feo x Keor Meteor and “Thierry Henry” during the second break also by Cousin Feo x Keor Meteor off the album, A Little Caviar.
