S2 E19 Getting Way Too Messi – Talking New Mexico United

Chris and Alicia discuss New Mexico United’s latest match results against Real Monarchs on the podcast and some of the latest USL drama.

On this week’s episode of We Are Seek & Strike Podcast (WASSP), Chris and Alicia waste no time and get started talking about the UEFA Champions League results between Bayern and Paris St. Germain. This, of course, leads to the Lionel Messi sweepstakes currently going on in the world. They quickly find relevance between these teams and some of the more dominant sides in USL Championship.

Next, they discuss the illegal substitution that just surfaced during a match between San Antonio and FC Tulsa. PRO and USL issued statements. They also chatted about Phoenix-Las Vegas and the quandary about stoppage time. Did the two squads play 102 minutes or was it 98 minutes total time to include 4 minutes added on to regular time prior to the 90+4? Is the USL keeping their house clean or is it starting to “get way too messi.”

Hosts, Chris and Alicia kickstart their discussion about New Mexico United’s latest back-to-back match results with defending USL Championship Cup Finals Winner, Real Monarchs. New Mexico United played both matches at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman, Utah. They compared the matches played on Wednesday and Saturday to find similarities and differences in them. Chris talked about formations, lineups, and the effectiveness of the high press. Alicia weighed in on player attributes and gave her impression on Technical Director and Head Coach Troy Lesesne’s strategy. They took some time to delve into whether or not the USL would see Messi this season. After all, Didier Drogba did come to play his last year in the USL and Messi’s former teammate, David Villa will operate Queenboro FC in the USL for 2021.
