NWSL: Standout Performers Week 4

The NWSL has been on an international break this week, but we take a look back at some of the best players from week four of the NWSL regular season.

Morgan Gautrat

Although Gautrat might not have been the goalscorer, she was one of the best players on the field for the Chicago Red Stars. It’s very unusual that we see the North Carolina Courage’s midfield dominated in a way that they were on Saturday and Gautrat’s midfield play was a big factor. Gautrat and Sarah Woldmoe partnered up well and both played great in the dominating performance from Chicago. It was her header back into the box that Hill was able to get on and score the game winning goal. Gautrat has been terrific on both sides of the ball this NWSL season.

Lindsey Horan

Horan had herself a game against Racing Louisville, she was hands down the best player on the field for either team. She was all over the pitch, creating chance after chance for the Thorns offense. She got the assist on the Rocky Rodriguez goal with a great pass to the middle of the box. Then later on in the game she put the exclamation point on Portland’s win with a goal. It was an intended cross that took a nice touch and found the back of the net.

Ashlyn Harris

Harris had some massive saves for Orlando against the Washington Spirit. The Spirit were dangerous on the offensive side of the ball. Although they only had four shots on goal, they did have 18 crosses in the match. Harris and Orlando’s defense came up huge in the 1-1 tie. The tie also kept Orlando at the top of the NWSL standings will 11 points going into the international break.
