Two historic events happened for the Saint Louis FC system this season. One, the U19’s finished 3rd place in the USSDA playoffs–defeating MLS and independent academies alike on the way. Two, the day I recorded this, nay the hour I recorded this interview, Nichi Vlastos became the first player in club history to sign directly from the academy to pro side by signing a contract with the club’s senior team.

I also won’t sugar coat it. I don’t think St. Louis FC academy players get enough of a look from USMNT, so I’m trying my best to spread the word with this interview that Jansen Miller is a U17 eligible NATURAL centerback that should be called into a camp with the national team before the World Cup. He performed admirably in the USSDA playoffs, has gotten preseason minutes with the senior team as well as made the 18, and can hang with the current list of converted fullbacks occupying those national team centerback spots.
