With Marisa off this week, Chris and Alan got a chance to chat with San Diego Loyal midfielder Morgan Hackworth. The three covered a lot of topics that ranged from playing in the well respected Philadelphia Union youth academy to what it’s like living in San Diego.
Morgan shared highlights of his youth development in Philadelphia. This opportunity brought him to the same academy as USMNT stars Christian Pulisic and Zack Steffen. He went from one storied team to two others. Morgan then shared stories of his time at Syracuse and Akron. There were some stories of perseverance and some challenges he faced. Next, he talked about what it was like playing in the NCAA final four and even in a championship team.
Next, Morgan talked a little about his transition to the professional ranks and what brought him to San Diego. After that he talked about his love of the ocean and surfing. The three talked a little bit about skateboarding and how it’s important to be true to oneself.
After that, Morgan shared some personal stories about growing up watching Everton with his dad and brothers. He talked about his go to song that he’d play on his guitar right now. Also, he talked about how much he enjoys San Diego and California burritos.
We wrap up talking about his love of running. Morgan also shares what food item he can’t live without, and it might surprise you as much as it did Alan. We want to thank Morgan Hackworth for joining us!
