Memo Rodriguez catches up with Carson

In another quarantine conversation, Carson is joined by Houston Dynamo 2019 Young Player of the Year, Jose “Memo” Rodriguez.

Back in 2015, our Carson A. Merk made his soccer writing debut for Dynamo Theory. He was assigned to cover the Houston Dynamo rookie on loan with Charleston Battery. That player was current Houston Dynamo star Jose “Memo” Rodriguez.

Fast forward to 2020 and Carson and Memo caught up to discuss his journey from being a seldom-used rookie with Charleston to a breakout star with RGVFC to his current position with the first team. The 24-year-old talked about the decision to sign with the Toros in 2016 after Houston waived him following that rookie campaign with the Battery and the self-doubt that he had to overcome during that time.

Memo also talked about who is the best gamer, besides himself, on the club’s roster, what he learned from US Soccer legend DaMarcus Beasley, and the excitement of getting back on the training pitch.
