Lights Match Preview #27: LV vs. Los Dos

It is sure to be an exciting night at Cashman Field when Las Vegas Lights FC hosts LA Galaxy II.

After some time off, Las Vegas Lights FC returns to action at home against Los Dos on Saturday.

Last Time Out

Lights FC

L (2-1) vs. Reno 1868 FC

Goal: Alvarez

Los Dos

W (3-1) vs. Switchbacks FC

Goals: Hilliard-Arce, Lassiter (2)

Last Time They Met

On May 26th, Los Dos obliterated Lights FC 7-2 in Southern California. Ethan Zubak scored four goals, Julien Buscher added one, and Ariel Lassiter bagged a brace. Daigo Kobayashi scored both Las Vegas goals.

Opposing Players to Watch

Ariel Lassiter: Affectionately known as the Goal Puppy, MLS legend Roy Lassiter’s son provides a dangerous scoring option any time he is loaned down to Los Dos from the first team. If he is in the lineup, Vegas will need to be on high alert.

Efrain Alvarez: The Lights were lucky to avoid the young phenom last time they met, but this time they probably will face him. The younger brother of Lights midfielder Carlos Alvarez, Efrain took the USL by storm this season. In only 12 appearances, the 16-year-old has scored eight goals and dazzled with his skill on the ball.

Ethan Zubak: He leads the club in goals with 10. Last time out vs. Las Vegas, he scored four times.

CASH(MAN) RULES EVERYTHING AROUND LV

I’d be remiss to write a preview for tonight’s match and not mention the halftime entertainment (or shenanigans, depending on your opinion). The Lights will drop $5,000 in cash from a helicopter above 200 lucky fans on the pitch. This is guaranteed to be must-see TV and hopefully, there are no injuries and only good times.

Reporting live from Sin City, I have covered both RGVFC and Las Vegas Lights FC since their inceptions. I also write profiles to highlight players from the NCAA to USL to NWSL and everywhere in between.
