Hooligan History – #MonMovie Preview

In preparation for our next #MonMovie, Green Street Hooligans, Steve and LauraEllen provide a brief history on hooliganism and its impact on the game of soccer.  They provide a lot of great insight about something that many of us have heard of, but don’t actually know much about.

New to #MonMovie Saturdays?  Here’s how it’ll work:

  • Each week we’ll pick a soccer related movie that’s available on popular streaming services
  • At 7pm (when the Hounds typically take the field), everyone watches the movie “together”, but from the comfort of their own home.
  • Fans can jump onto twitter and talk about the movie as you watch it using the hashtag #MonMovie.  It’ll be a fun way to talk about what you like, not like, or comment on any in-movie game action that we’ll all be experiencing together.  We’ll even invite fans from the team we were supposed to be playing to watch along and comment with us!
  • On Monday, in addition to player interviews and talking about other soccer happenings, we’ll share our thoughts on the movie and come up with a #MonMovie ranking to determine what the best soccer movie is of the series.

This week’s movie, as voted by the fans, is Green Street Hooligans!  Here’s the link to watch the movie on Youtube, but don’t start watching until 7pm on Saturday!

Watching films “together” is a great way to stay in touch with all of the supporters and fans during the pandemic and keep our spirits high so we can launch out of this thing with our A-game and cheer on the Hounds to victory!

Have thoughts on which movie we should watch next week?  Let us know!
