Danielle joins us again to get into some great discussion on soccer and women is sport. Marisa is back! She returns after her week off last week. Alan and Marisa start things off talking about the new keeper kit Alan was wearing. It looks great. Don’t believe us? Check out the live stream on YouTube to see the best keeper kit in the USL Championship.
This is a long one, but we promise you it is worth the listen. Alan and Danielle have a discussion about the youth soccer programs in the United States, and Danielle offers up some thoughts on girls academies in the United States. Next, the discussion moves into the professional game and how underserved women’s sports are in general and especially soccer. After that, they have a debate about what they would like to see in San Diego next, a San Diego Loyal USL Academy team or a USL Women’s team.
Danielle asks how things are going in San Diego. The talk gets a little heavy in what our expectations are and where we go from here. The discussion is hopefully but realistic.
Lastly, Alan takes the conversation to the USWMT and the recent ruling in the equal pay dispute with the US Soccer Federation. Danielle starts us off by dropping some knowledge. The discussion heads to a place of hope and some ideas of where the team can still fight. Next, Marisa, Danielle, and Alan talk about gender roles in sport and how the discussion around equal pay is also a discussion about equal access.
We promise, if you make it this far, it is well worth the time.
