Bold FC’s experienced striker is ready to help down the stretch

Austin Bold FC currently find themselves fourth on the USL Western Conference table and winners of the Copa Tejas in their inaugural season. It’s a surprising success story and they have relied on a largely veteran roster. Striker Isaac Promise is 31 years old and brings an experienced presence up top combining with players like Kleber and Andre Lima. He has three goals in 2o matches in his second season in the United States after spending most of his career in Turkey.

He played more than 12 years in Turkey and described his experience as enjoyable and unforgettable. “My time there was one of the best of my career,” Promise said. When I asked him what his favorite parts of his time there were, he answered shopping and said he still enjoys eating rice, stew, and fish to this day.

Despite spending most of his professional life in Turkey, Promise is a native of Nigeria. Describing his home country, he said that Nigeria is blessed with oil and other natural resources, but there is another valuable commodity that is found all across the West African nation. “Above all, God given soccer talents that you can even create a national team on the streets,” he said.

This summer, Nigerian musical artist Burna Boy released his critically-acclaimed album, African Giant. Promise explained that there have been a lot of Nigerian artists making waves before Burna Boy, but he personally prefers gospel music.

Just like African Giant, Austin Bold FC are making waves across America in 2019. Promise said it’s a good thing to know they are winning some things “in the first year of a lovely organized team”. He added that he’s blessed to be a part of it.

But, the players and organization won’t be satisfied with a great regular season without playoff success. When asked how dangerous they can be in the postseason, Promise answered, “Everything can be possible if we believe and fight to achieve it.”

Bold FC won vs. RGVFC yesterday and they will continue their push towards the playoffs when they travel to Colorado Springs to take on Switchbacks FC on Saturday. Kick off is set for 7 PM Central Time.
