A Light Preview: Will San Diego extend Las Vegas Lights FC’s losing streak to ten matches?

After some much-needed time between matches, Las Vegas Lights FC return to action tonight as they host San Diego Loyal SC at Cashman Field.

Las Vegas Lights FC (5-18-2)

The last time we saw the Lights in action was ten days ago when they faced Phoenix Rising FC on the road. That match ended in a 4-1 loss for Las Vegas, the ninth straight defeat for the club. They were heavily outshot and outperformed by one of the best teams in the USL Championship.

Tonight, they look to break out of this lengthy slump. Their last draw came back on 8/7 and they haven’t actually won a match since July. A focused defensive effort in front of Alex Rando, one of the club’s most consistent performers along with Frank Daroma, will be key to keeping the Lights in the match.

In the attack, the LAFC affiliate needs a final product from players like Danny Trejo, Bruce El-Mesmari, and potentially either Cal Jennings or Danny Musovski. Lights FC will be without Roberto Molina, who played more than a half last night in El Salvador’s friendly vs. Guatemala.

With the crowds shrinking and no longer providing much home-field advantage, can Las Vegas muster up a big upset tonight or will it be more of the same for the young squad?

Danny Trejo: He’s been in the starting lineup recently for Lights FC after battling injuries early on this season. The 2021 LAFC first-round pick has displayed some potential in the attack, but he’s still looking for his first professional goal or assist.
