A Light Preview: Match #9 vs. Sacramento Republic FC

Las Vegas Lights FC return home to face Republic FC tonight.

After a draw on Monday vs. LA Galaxy II, Las Vegas Lights FC are back at Cashman Field tonight to take on Sacramento Republic FC.

Looking at the Lights (2-4-2)

Eric Wynalda’s side will return home tonight where they are undefeated (2-0-1). Thomas Olsen has not allowed a goal at Cashman Field this season. Their most recent home performance was a 5-0 win over Tacoma Defiance that included an Irvin Parra hat trick. Last time out, the Lights played to a 0-0 draw at Los Dos after a lopsided loss in South Texas vs. RGVFC. Injuries will keep Kevin Garcia-Lopez and Christian Torres out vs. Republic FC.

As some on Twitter have noticed, there’s been some roster movement for Lights FC. Officially from the club, Alex Harlley is currently away from the team while remaining on the roster. Miguel Palafox & Bin Adolf Enow have mutually parted ways with the club. They added Junior Sandoval weeks ago and he’s been a major addition. Santiago Echavarria, Jonathan Levin, and Victor Rojas have joined the club in the last couple of weeks. With some injuries and players out of favor with Coach Wynalda, the new players could find themselves called upon tonight.

Who you should know: Sacramento Republic FC (3-2-2)

Cameron Iwasa: In seven matches this season, the club’s all-time leading scorer has five goals. He’s been an established goalscorer in this league for years and can change the game when he gets the ball in the final third.

Jaime Villarreal: A playmaking midfielder, Villarreal has created seven chances this season and scored one goal. He completes over 70% of his passes in the attacking half.

Josh Cohen: After starring for Phoenix Rising FC in 2017, Cohen has been the man between the pipes for Republic FC. This year, he has three clean sheets in seven matches and has only conceded five times.
