A Light Preview: Match #31 vs. Colorado Springs

Las Vegas Lights FC will take on Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC tonight.

Still clinging to an outside chance at making the playoffs, Las Vegas Lights FC will need to secure three points tonight when they face Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. We preview the away fixture for Lights FC.

Looking at the Lights (9-13-8)

As a lot of their recent matches have been, this is essentially a must-win for Eric Wynalda’s side. They are four points below the cutoff line with four matches left to play. Tonight, they face one of two clubs in the Western Conference already eliminated from playoff contention. They will need to win their second away match of the season with the other coming back in June.

The Lights will be without Santiago Echavarria and Junior Sandoval due to lower-body injuries. I would expect Ferrety Sousa to continue his breakout performances and add some pace and width to the Lights’ attack. As I’ve mentioned before, this club really needs leading-scorer Irvin Parra to step up on the road just as he does consistently at home.

Previous meeting vs. C. Springs: W, 3-0

Jordan Burt: The captain leads the club in goals from his right-back spot. He’s also second on the team in tackles and aerial duels.

Ismaile Jome: Another talented full-back for Switchbacks FC, he has club-highs in assists and crosses, where he ranks second in the entire league.

Shane Malcolm: He adds skill and pace to the Colorado Springs’ attack. He sits second on the team in goals and chances created.
