A Light Preview: Match #3 vs. Timbers 2

The search for win #1 of the season takes Las Vegas Lights FC to the Rose City.

Las Vegas Lights FC play their second-straight match on the road as they travel to Oregon to face Portland Timbers FC 2.

Looking at the Lights: (0-1-1)

So far, it’s been a lot of action but not a lot of results for Eric Wynalda’s squad. They’ve done well to control possession and fire numerous shots, but they have not put many on target and they only have one goal to show for 33 shots in two matches.

Tripa Hernandez and Pablo Cruz have done well to move the ball from the midfield to the attack. Each will be crucial to the club’s success vs. Timbers 2. Also, after a high-scoring preseason, Alex Harlley has yet to make a major impact or score a goal. He needs to get more involved and find the net.

Who you should know: Portland Timbers FC 2 (1-0-1)

Marvin Loria: The 21-year-old forward leads T2 with six shots and two goals, both coming in a win vs. San Antonio.

Renzo Zambrano: One of the club’s key players on last year’s playoff team, Zambrano completed 85.7% of his team-high 140 passes. The midfielder has fired 25 long passes.

Eryk Williamson: Playing as an attacking midfielder, Williamson has two assists and seven chances created this season. For what it’s worth, his Wikipedia adds that he’s Queen Latifah’s cousin.
