A Light Preview: Match #27 vs. El Paso Locomotive FC

Tonight, Las Vegas Lights FC will hope that confetti after home goals is raining like the cash from the helicopter at half time. They will go for three vital points at Cashman Field vs. El Paso Locomotive FC and we preview the action.

Looking at the Lights (8-10-8)

The Lights will kick-off one of the most crucial stretches to their season tonight, a three-match homestand. With the Western Conference standings being incredibly tight below the top three, taking all nine points from these matches would see Lights FC rocket up the table. First up is a match against the club right above them. Eric Wynalda will definitely have his team mentally prepared for these important fixtures.

Jose Villarreal is the only player on the injury list, but there’s no expectation that Dejan Jakovic will return on loan and Fito Zelaya is on international duty. Mobi Fehr is back and his ability to spread the ball around the pitch could be valuable as Las Vegas will want to score early and often at home. Expect an attacking approach from the Lights that includes a combination of Irvin Parra, Tabort Etaka Preston, and/or Santiago Echavarria. I would also anticipate the return of Thomas Olsen to the starting lineup between the pipes.

Previous meeting vs. El Paso: W, 1-0

Who you should know: El Paso Locomotive FC (8-8-9)

Logan Ketterer: He’s tied for third in the league with nine clean sheets on the year. The 2017 Columbus Crew draft pick has also made 50 saves in 2019.

Omar Salgado: The former Lights FC loanee has three goals, five assists, and a club-high 41 shots this season. He also leads the club with 51 fouls won.

Jerome Kiesewetter: After a scorching hot beginning to his time with El Paso, Kiesewetter has cooled off lately. But, he still has 11 goals on the season and can change the game for Locomotive FC.
