A Light Preview: Match #17 vs. OKC Energy FC

Las Vegas Lights FC will look to make it three straight wins when they host OKC Energy FC tonight.

In back-to-back matches, Las Vegas Lights FC knocked off clubs sitting in the top two of the USL Championship Western Conference. Tonight, they look to secure a third consecutive victory when they take on Oklahoma City Energy FC.

Looking at the Lights (6-6-4)

After securing their first away win of 2019, Lights FC return home to the Vegas heat tonight. When they do so, a few notable names will be unavailable. During the broadcast vs. El Paso, the announcers mentioned that Tripa Hernandez has left the team with nothing official from the club yet. Junior Sandoval will be serving a one-match ban for yellow card accumulation and Dejan Jakovic has been recalled from his loan by LAFC. Tripa helped control the tempo with his passing, Sandoval is an action man in the middle of the part, and Jakovic helped control the back line in his brief time with the Lights. Hopefully, the departure of Jakovic doesn’t force Javan Torre back to central defense because he’s been quality on the outside.

On the opposite side, there will be a notable player returning. Irvin Parra will be available after serving a two-match ban following his money/contract incident. With Parra, they have a consistent scorer at home that can serve as a target man. Without him, the Lights were able to play faster up top and play without a true number nine. It will be interesting to see how Eric Wynalda adjusts his lineup.

Who you should know: OKC Energy FC (5-5-7)

Deshorn Brown: The leading scorer for Energy FC, Brown has eight goals and two key passes on the season. His movement off the ball helps to open things up for OKC.

Cody Laurendi: He is one of the most well-known goalkeepers in the league and sits atop the USL Championship with 55 saves. The Puerto Rican national team keeper has also registered three clean sheets.

Owayne Omar Gordon: An explosive player on the wing, the Jamaican has four goals and six assists.
