A Light Preview: Match #14 vs. Orange County SC

Winless in their last three league matches, Lights FC will return to Cashman Field tonight to face Orange County SC.

With back-to-back losses last week, Las Vegas Lights FC will try to get back on track tonight in downtown Las Vegas. The club will host Orange County SC, who were also defeated by Orange County FC in US Open Cup play. We give you a preview of the USL Championship action.

Looking at the Lights (4-6-3)

There were two interesting moves across the Las Vegas backline this week. The club added MLS veteran central defender Dejan Jakovic on loan from LAFC. He will provide leadership, experience, and skill to a backline that has struggled at times this season. Opposite the signing, Lights FC mutually parted ways with full back Eric Gonzalez, who has started the last five league matches at left back. Now with three starting caliber center backs in Jakovic, Gabe Robinson, and Javan Torre, the club could go with a different formation or one of the younger players could lose their spot to Jakovic.

The Lights have been shut out in their last three league matches and they need someone to step up outside of Irvin Parra. The forward has seven goals and no other player has more than two. Tripa Hernandez has 32 chances created and Pablo Cruz has 25. The player up top not named Parra, someone from the group of Sammy Ochoa, Santiago Echavarria, Preston Tabort Etaka, Jose Villarreal, and Victor Rojas, needs to bury some opportunities.

In disciplinary news, Tripa and Junior Sandoval each sit one yellow card away from suspension.

Who you should know: Orange County SC (4-3-6)

(Aodhan Quinn & Darwin Jones are suspended for this match)

Michael Seaton: The big Jamaican is enjoying another solid season scoring for OC. After finishing with 15 goals and seven assists in 2018, Seaton has four goals and an assist in 11 appearances. He has good pace to get in behind and is strong enough to hold up play.

Jerry van Ewijk: He leads the club in chances created with 26. The Dutch forward is completing 83% of his passes and has three assists on the year.

Harry Forrester: He’s started every match this season for Orange County. The former Rangers man has 20 shots, one goal, and two assists.
