A Light Preview: Lights FC look to bounce back at Los Dos

Las Vegas Lights FC were hammered 5-1 on Friday night by Phoenix Rising FC. With a quick turnaround, they will try to get back on track when they travel to SoCal to face LA Galaxy II tonight.

Las Vegas Lights FC (2-6-3)

After an unbeaten run of three matches back in August, Las Vegas Lights FC have followed that up with four straight matches without a victory, including back-to-back losses to Phoenix Rising FC. The Lights are still searching for their first win away from Cashman Field and will try to avenge a 4-3 loss to Los Dos back in August.

Frank Yallop’s side will need to get its offense going again as they have two goals in their previous three matches. In the four matches before that, they had three goals in each match. Quincy Amarikwa made his first start for the club up top and tallied one shot before subbing off in the 64th minute. It will be important for him and Blake Frischknecht to be impact players in the final third.

The absence of Ramon Martin Del Campo can’t be understated. He’s been out for the entire four-match winless streak and the club has conceded 12 goals in those matches. If the star central defender can’t return for tonight’s fixture, it might be another long night for the Lights. Thomas Olsen has started in goal for the last three matches and we will have to see if he keeps that spot or if Lalo Delgado returns between the sticks. UPDATE: Del Campo and the Lights mutually parted ways earlier this week.

LA Galaxy II (6-5-0)

Who you should know

Augustine Williams: The Los Dos attack flows through their star forward. He’s scored seven goals this season, including four in August alone. Williams came off the bench in the previous matchup vs. the Lights and scored less than ten minutes after subbing on.

Mauricio Cuevas: If the Lights concede a foul near the penalty area, you can bet that Cuevas will take his chances on goal. He has four goals this season…all from free kicks.

Jorge Hernandez: He has a club-high 14 chances created in 11 appearances thus far. The 19-year-old scored one goal and has one assist to his name.

What you should know

  • 11th-most goals scored, 9th-most goals conceded
  • Lost two of their last three matches
  • Third on the Group B table, one point behind San Diego
