Welcome to the 90Plus Podcast, the newest addition to the Beautiful Game Network. The 90Plus Podcast features game recaps, player ratings, one-on-one feature interviews, and a whole lot more. The two co-hosts, Ben Righetti and Sebastian Pereira, are a pair of up-and-coming soccer journalists in Vancouver, covering the Vancouver Whitecaps for just over a year now. In fact, today’s episode is the 1 year anniversary of the first 90Plus Podcast episode, so we thought that there would be no better time to join the Beautiful Game Network.
And what an anniversary episode it is! Former Whitecaps, Rangers, Wolves and Scotland striker Kenny Miller joins the show (13:17) all the way from Sydney. The three chat about Miller’s time with the Whitecaps, as well as his career in Europe, his career highs and lows, and the early years of Miller’s coaching career. Also discussed are Miller’s relationship with former Whitecaps coach Carl Robinson, some of his favourite memories both in Vancouver and throughout Europe, and Scotland’s thrilling penalty shoot-out win over Serbia last fall.
Ben and Sebastian also go over all the new changes to the podcast before the interview, including their network deal with the Beautiful Game Network, sponsorships with Ruffneck Scarves and Icarus FC, new Instagram account, new logo, and more!
We are brought to you by Ruffneck Scarves and Icarus FC. Ruffneck Scarves is the place to go for all official MLS, USL, and U.S. Soccer scarves. They also do custom scarves for your group or team. Icarus FC is turning the custon soccer kit market on its head. Their motto is “any design you want, seriously.” Ditch the boring, expensive, template kits from the big brands and get your custom soccer kits through Icarus FC.
Ben Righetti covers the Whitecaps for Last Word on Soccer, attending practices and games to bring readers the best and most in depth coverage of the team possible. The English native recently graduated from the Broadcast and Online Journalism program at BCIT, and hopes that the coverage he provides for Last Word, mixed with his CFL experience and TSN internship can make him a prominent figure in Vancouver’s sports media market.
Sebastian Pereira is a contributor for World Football Index, covering the Vancouver Whitecaps. Born in Colombia, Sebastian has always had a strong passion for the beautiful game, with his top football memories being his country’s deep run in the 2014 FIFA World Cup and watching Liverpool lift the Champions League in 2019. Sebastian is currently in his second year of studying journalism in Vancouver and aims to cover the sport at a top level.
