Karlee Maes is our guest on this edition of 1V1. Karlee is in her junior season and plays defender for the University of New Mexico.
Chris learns that Karlee is quite the traveler, whether for soccer or leisure. Even though she’s homegrown from Albuquerque, New Mexico, she doesn’t skip the beach any chance she gets. Karlee talks about her early days of playing soccer. She shares her favorite center back to watch, but the real kicker came when Chris asked what position she started playing.
Chris asks Karlee about some of the teams she’s played on and why she wears number 28. She reflects on her favorite teammates to play with and the first time she stepped on the pitch as a Lobo. Karlee is one of the reasons the Lobos have only allowed 3 goals all season. Also, she has contributed to the team wins either by scoring or by assisting the game-winning goal. Recently, Karlee was named to the Mountain West First Team All-Conference.
